Flow Trigger #16 – Always Say Yes

With only one flow trigger left in the locker this is our final social trigger, and one that many people struggle with. One of the first rules of time management is – to say no. But here we are calling on you to always say yes. Well I have a strong view on this – if you and others are in flow you do not need to manage your time. Remember you can be up to 500% more effective, and when this kicks in you will smash whatever is in front of you. Only those that struggle need to manage their time.

A great film that broadcasts optimal performance (admittedly in full fiction) is The Matrix. Here the lead character Neo (played by Keanu Reeves) asks Morpheus. “What are you trying to tell me? That I can dodge bullets?” His mentor replies,  “No, Neo. I’m trying to tell you that when you’re ready, you won’t have to.” So yes I am presenting a challenging future, but once you find flow many of the stereotypical skills (like time management) actually become redundant. And anyway they only treat the symptoms and not the root cause of performance.

So let’s say yes more often, making additions to conversation rather than subtracting the energy with the word no. Additions can become addictive, don’t forget flow creates a potent dose of neuro chemicals. Momentum, togetherness and innovation. To go one stage further, couple the word yes with the word and.
