Introducing – Tao The Way of the Coach by Mo Cohen

This is a modern interpretation of the Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu, with a coaching twist. It’s only right for me to declare an interest here, as Mo is a good friend and former coach. But even without my bias I consider this book a delight, poetry in motion. A wonderfully light and lifting take on coaching. Mo describes great coaching concepts described in a playful way, no text books here. More art than science. I have read it twice as it’s a great connection to the work that I do and a shared passion for coaching.

I have also recommended this book to participants of my manager as coach workshops. Yes it is artistic in its approach, but it is also wonderfully accessible and dare I say simple. Reminders of who we need to be (as coaches) are frequent – giving up the right to be certain, being invisible and working on yourself first.

“It takes a certain energy to coach

It’s the energy of innocence

Being candid”
