Welcome to my first vlog (5:16 mins) – where I proudly share my trusty Star of Influence.
It’s a great model that opens up influencing to include both push and pull styles. 6 behaviours are described in all but the precision can be found in executing the ‘pushiest of the push’ and the ‘pulliest of the pull’ approaches.
I applied these philosophies to get me out of a very tight spot once. A quick bit of listening and questioning allowed me to share some very important information. Then I moved swiftly on to describing how I felt, what I was thinking but importantly what I wanted to happen next. Within minutes I quickly moved from speaking to the manager to the senior leader – and all the presented problems had been smashed.
