Masterclasses and why they beat open courses hands down
Written by Stuart Haden on June 17, 2014
As a creative individual I tend to jump to different possibilities quite quickly. Which is why I am always on the lookout to challenge the human development industry so that it can meet participants needs and break free from tradition. Expensive open courses have been a bug bear of mine for sometime. Value for money can be questionable, unless you are the provider that is! There is no scam to detect, just a more authentic way to deliver the learning. A way that meets our underlying aim – develop people, not just the bank account.
I have never offered open courses and if I do they will be only be priced to cover costs, and nothing more. Instead I offer Masterclasses, events that are run by myself and a group in tandem. Taking out expensive venue costs or the need to over charge to mitigate risk. Instead we work together to create fabulous events (he says fresh from one last week) where everybody knows where they stand, where everyone contributes in their own way. Contribution = value.
Stay tuned for later postings as I head to Storm Beach armed with a flip chart and the aim to tackle the open courses model head on…
