The art of creating an identity
Written by Stuart Haden on July 17, 2014
One of the biggest challenges I face when working with leaders and coaches is locating their identity – who are they being? Where are they coming from and what is their purpose? It is only when an individual can align their identity to their environment that they can achieve high performance, flow, authenticity and impact.
Call it the passport of life if you will, destinations you have visited and maps (not models) that you have adopted. Not just chasing the stamps for leadership course x, y and z but lingering long enough to explore the local culture. Maybe not for the ambitiously magic 10,000 hours, but long enough to say – ‘my approach is influenced by authenticity and the concept of servant leadership’ or, ‘when I adopt a narrative and ontological approach to coaching I am at my best.’
Our passports can stay in the background if we need to, or openly shared when necessary. In this video I describe why this is so important and what you can do about it…
