In my last posting (How to reboot your operating system) I talked about the benefits of Heart Rate Variability (HRV) Training. In this posting I’ll do a quick demo for you. If you want to try this at home all you need to do is buy an Inner Balance sensor from HeartMath.
Essentially it gives you feedback on your current state. Quantifying your mediation practice (or equivalent) if you choose to pursue one. Simply plug the sensor into your phone, which automatically opens the free app once you’ve attached it to your ear lobe. Hit play on the app and you are off. It will take about a minute or so to calibrate and then your feedback begins.
An audible tone can be heard aligned to red, blue or green. The visual and auditory element really helps to cement your ability to get in the green zone. There are 6 views you can choose from (as I demo in the video). Your body can sense and remember what this state feels like allowing you to access this even when you aren’t plugged in. Once you are done (I normally do about 10 minutes) hit stop and record your mood. Then your full feedback is presented, with a % of time you spent in low, medium and high coherence.
