Introducing – Masterful Coaching by Robert Hargrove

This is a seminal book on coaching, it’s been over 10 years since I first read Masterful Coaching but it remains a tour de force despite so many publications since. I am indebted to Robert for endorsing my book, however, the greatest gift he gave me was the energy and guidance for coaching when I set out with his book tucked under my arm during my coach training days.
Supported by maps and case studies prepare yourself for – impossible futures, reinvention, breakthroughs, accomplishment, greatness and winning. Somewhat responsible for my ontological approach to coaching Robert reminds us that becoming a masterful coach is something that you be and we have the power to choose. Then and only then can we take a stand, for what and who we believe in. Authenticity in a nutshell really. Over to Robert for the last word…
“This book will make it clear that the starting point for Masterful Coaching is a powerful partnership with the person or group being coached, which is based on an emotional commitment to who people are and what they are up to in life. Commitment unlocks the wisdom, intuition, and natural knowing needed to coach people effectively in any situation. Without commitment, what one is left with is a bottomless quagmire of technique. At the same time, it is helpful to have a mental map or coaching model. As with any model, the model should be the servant, not the master.”
